What is a video webhook API?

A video webhook API sends HTTP POST requests to your server when specific events occur in the video platform, such as a meeting starting, a recording becoming ready, or a transcription completing. V100's webhooks are signed with HMAC-SHA256 for payload verification, support configurable event filters, and include auto-retry with exponential backoff for reliable delivery.

How does V100 verify webhook authenticity?

Every webhook payload is signed with HMAC-SHA256 using your webhook secret. The signature is included in the X-V100-Signature header. Your server computes the HMAC of the raw request body using your secret and compares it to the header value. If they match, the webhook is authentic and has not been tampered with in transit.

What happens if my server is down when V100 sends a webhook?

V100 automatically retries failed webhook deliveries with exponential backoff. The retry schedule is: 30 seconds, 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 2 hours, and 24 hours. If all retries fail, the event is logged in your webhook delivery history and can be manually replayed through the API or dashboard.

How Webhook Delivery Works

V100 delivers webhooks reliably with HMAC-SHA256 signature verification, automatic retries, and comprehensive delivery logging. Every delivery is tracked and can be replayed.

Event Occurs

A meeting starts, recording becomes ready, or any subscribed event triggers. V100 constructs a JSON payload with event type, data, and timestamp.

Sign Payload

The raw JSON body is signed with HMAC-SHA256 using your webhook secret. The signature is placed in the X-V100-Signature header along with a timestamp to prevent replay attacks.

Deliver via TLS 1.3

HTTP POST to your webhook URL over TLS 1.3. Your server responds with 2xx to acknowledge receipt. If your server returns a non-2xx or times out (10 seconds), the retry schedule begins.

Auto-Retry

Failed deliveries retry at 30s, 5m, 30m, 2h, and 24h. Each attempt is logged. After all retries, the event is preserved in your delivery history for manual replay.

Integration Guide

Register a webhook endpoint, select which events to receive, and implement signature verification on your server. V100 handles retries and delivery logging.
