How is V100's transcription encrypted?

V100's transcription is encrypted at three levels. In transit: all audio data sent to the transcription engine travels over TLS 1.3 with post-quantum key exchange (ML-KEM-768 + X25519). At rest: completed transcripts are stored with AES-256-GCM encryption with server-side key management. Integrity: every transcript is signed with an ML-DSA-65 Dilithium digital signature that proves it has not been altered. The server-side proxy architecture ensures your API keys are never exposed to client-side code.

Are exported transcripts (SRT, VTT, JSON) also signed?

Yes. When you export a transcript in SRT, VTT, or JSON format, the exported file receives its own ML-DSA-65 Dilithium signature. This means you can distribute a transcript file and the recipient can independently verify its authenticity using V100's public verification API at /api/pq/verify, without needing access to the original recording.

Is V100 transcription HIPAA compliant?

Yes. V100 transcription meets all HIPAA technical safeguards: AES-256-GCM encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, comprehensive audit logging of all transcript access events, role-based access controls, and tamper-proof Dilithium signatures on stored transcripts. A Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is available on Pro and Enterprise plans.

Three Layers of Transcript Security

Most transcription services encrypt data "in transit" with standard TLS and call it secure. V100 applies three independent cryptographic protections to every transcript, ensuring confidentiality and integrity from the moment audio is captured to the moment a transcript is retrieved years later.

In Transit: Post-Quantum Encrypted Transport

Audio data traveling from the client to V100's transcription engine is encrypted with TLS 1.3 using ML-KEM-768 + X25519 hybrid key exchange (FIPS 203). This means the audio stream is protected against both classical eavesdropping and future quantum decryption. The server-side proxy architecture ensures your API keys never leave the server -- client devices never see or transmit raw credentials.

At Rest: AES-256-GCM Encryption

Completed transcripts are stored in encrypted S3 storage with AES-256-GCM. Each transcript is encrypted with a unique data encryption key, which is itself wrapped with a key encryption key managed through AWS KMS. Even if the storage layer were compromised, transcripts remain encrypted and inaccessible without the key hierarchy.

Integrity: ML-DSA-65 Dilithium Signatures

Every transcript is signed with an ML-DSA-65 Dilithium digital signature (FIPS 204) the moment it is generated. The 3,309-byte signature covers the full transcript content, SHA3-256 hash, creation timestamp, source recording reference, language, and diarization metadata. This signature is quantum-resistant and can be independently verified via the public /api/pq/verify endpoint.

Automatically identify and label different speakers in a conversation. Speaker labels are included in the signed transcript and covered by the Dilithium signature.

Word-Level Timestamps

Every word in the transcript includes a precise start and end timestamp. Enables click-to-seek in video playback, accurate captioning, and compliance with accessibility requirements. Timestamps are embedded in all export formats and covered by the Dilithium signature.

SRT / VTT / JSON Export

Export transcripts in industry-standard formats. SRT for video editing tools and media players. VTT for web video players with styling support. JSON for programmatic access with full metadata. Every exported file receives its own ML-DSA-65 signature -- the signature is format-specific, so you can verify a VTT file independently.

Real-Time + Batch

Real-time transcription for live meetings with sub-second latency. Batch transcription for uploaded recordings with higher accuracy. Both modes produce signed transcripts. Real-time transcripts are signed at session completion; batch transcripts are signed immediately upon generation.

Server-Side Proxy

V100's server-side proxy architecture ensures your API keys are never exposed to client-side code. Audio is routed through V100's servers where the API key is injected server-side. This eliminates the most common credential leak vector in transcription integrations.
